Why We Started ŚHRĪ

There’s a quiet revolution happening, one stitch, one story, one sacred thread at a time.

ŚHRĪ was born from a simple yet powerful desire: to reclaim the value of making. In a world chasing speed, scale, and sameness, we chose slowness, soul, and story.

The Beginning: A Return to Roots

This brand didn’t start in a boardroom. It began in conversations with grandmothers, in the textured walls of village homes, in the rhythmic hum of a sewing machine powered by calloused hands and deep pride.

As the founder of ŚHRĪ, I didn’t just want to build a brand. I wanted to build a bridge — between tradition and innovation, between craft and consciousness, between Sri Lanka and the world.

What We Believe In

ŚHRĪ is more than a label. It is a movement of craft, care, and courage. We believe:

• That heritage is not old — it is alive.
• That true luxury is conscious, not wasteful.
• That every piece we create should tell a story — of a woman, a place, a purpose.

We work with artisans, not factories. We collaborate, not exploit. We honour the hands behind the work, and we invite you to do the same.

Rooted in Ancestral Lineages

We are proud to work with artisan communities across Sri Lanka, many of whom carry traditions that span generations.

From the master woodcarvers of Ambekke, whose intricate temple craftsmanship is centuries old, to the women of Galle preserving the delicate art of Beeralu (bobbin lace).

In the lush regions of Bibile, we work with banana fiber weavers, breathing new life into sustainable craft. And in partnership with the MJF Charitable Foundation’s Women’s Development Programme, we are supporting training, dignified livelihoods, and economic empowerment for women across the island.

Every thread, every carving, every knot carries history, and we honour that legacy in every design.

Our launch initiative, Beyond the Seams, is a reflection of what we stand for. It’s not just about what you wear, it’s about what’s woven into it:
